The Gwynedd School of Dance has been established in Bangor, North Wales for over 30 years.
Principal, Natalie Robb took over the school in 1997 and has since developed it into an all round performing arts school.
We offer classes in Cecchetti Ballet, ISTD Tap, Modern and Jazz, LAMDA Singing, Drama & Musical Theatre, Legs,Bums and Tums, UDO Street Dance, Flamenco, Stage School / Musical Theatre and Wedding ‘First Dance’ Classes.
In September 2011 Anna Varty joined our team as drama and singing teacher, as well as this our school became a LAMDA Examination Centre, being able to offer classes and examinations in Singing, Drama and Musical Theatre, under The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
In June 2012, we became the winners of the award for ‘Best Pre School Class in North Wales’ for our Dancing Dots Class (as voted for by the Netmums members). This was a fantastic honour for our school and a credit to our little Dancing Dots themselves, as well as our teachers.
From September 2012 we are one of the first schools in North Wales, who can offer classes in the UDO Street Dance Syllabus, giving students from 5 Years old to adult, the opportunity to learn all techniques of Street Dance and take exams too!
We our very proud to be able to say that we have our own studio in Bangor . In September 2012 we opened our newly refurbished studio, offering our students a fantastic space to learn all different aspects of performing arts and fitness for all the family to enjoy, as well as holding dance themed birthday parties with exciting disco lights to make your child’s party unique and one that they will never forget!
In October 2012, Natalie opened ‘THE STAR’S DANCE SHOP’ within the same building at the Performing Arts Centre, the shop offers a wide range of dance, gymnastic and fitness wear, as well as Fancy Dress costumes and accesories. The shop also offers gifts that are ideal for Christmas, Birthdays and other special occasions. The Tuck Shop for little stars, offers a range of drinks and snacks to enable the children to rebuild their energy after a hard working class!
The Star’s Dance Shop is not only for GSD pupils but open to the public too, so everyone is welcome.
With all of these wonderful changes to classes and venue along with new members of staff joining our team, Natalie decided that this was a great time to rename our school to let people know exactly what we have to offer them…so from September 2011 we became….
